Lightworker Movie Night
Movie: Keepers of the Light

A middle-aged woman living in Los Angeles, saddled with a stressful job, a long-term relationship rapidly unraveling, coping with a drug-addicted daughter facing criminal charges and the prospect of raising 4 grandchildren, all under the age of 6 years, alone, takes a leap of faith. She sells her California home and heads to Austin, Texas. No family, no friends, no job, no medical insurance.

Within days of arriving in Austin, a group of women at a drumming session encourage her to join them on a trip to Peru. What she believes to be an impromptu and much-needed vacation morphs into a spiritual journey of discovery, one that literally transforms her life and directly affects the lives of those she left behind.

This is an opportunity for family and friends to have fun in a community of lightworkers. We watch films that inspire us on our path of healing and personal empowerment.

Movie: The Golden Compass

Description: The Golden Compass is a 2007 fantasy adventure film based on Northern Lights, the first novel in Philip Pullman’s trilogy His Dark Materials. The film depicts the adventures of Lyra Belacqua fighting against a powerful church called the Magisterium which opposes free inquiry. An interesting aspect of the world in which this story takes place is that part of the spirit of a person resides externally as an animal companion called a dæmon. As a source of intelligent will and empowerment, the Magisterium seeks to separate the dæmon from the human in order to deepen their social control.
